Progress Report October 1, 2024

Oct 1, 2024

Our network covering seven parishes is complete.

Construction of the Volt Broadband network across the seven-parish NELPCO footprint will be completed this month as the construction phase of the project draws to a close. The final areas to get service in southern Franklin Parish, as well as the Como area serving both Tensas and Franklin Parishes, will see the grid construction completed, and the customers who have signed up for the service will only be waiting for installation at their home or business. Volt officials noted that the company recently began a new installation process that allows for same-day drop and equipment installation, which has worked well to help speed up the delivery of the service to its customers.

Officials also noted that great “take rates” continue throughout the system as word spreads of the speed and reliability of the fiber optic cable network, which is exclusive to NELPCO members. This rate continues to hover in the 50% range for the newer areas that have opened up recently. In some of the longer-established network areas, the take rate has approached 60% as customers continue to enroll for this service. As of October 1, over 4,800 active customers across the NELPCO footprint have turned to the network for their internet service. Also, construction and installation crews will have completed over 5,000 drops to homes and businesses across seven parishes.

Customers who have signed up for Volt Broadband service continue to offer great reviews regarding the ease of installation as well as the quality of the product. Additionally, Volt’s service after installation has been cited favorably by those taking advantage of the service. Our customers also continue to tell us daily how Volt Broadband has made it easier for NELPCO members to conduct business online, work from home, watch their favorite television shows, or see their doctor. Before the construction of the Volt Broadband network, things of this nature, which were more readily available in the more populated municipal areas, were virtually unthinkable for NELPCO members living in the rural areas throughout Northeast Louisiana.

That’s not the case now, thanks to the dedication and hard work of the Volt Broadband team. Reliable broadband service is a game-changer today for our rural customers. We are very pleased with the progress we’ve made to bring this state-of-the-art service to the NELPCO members and are thankful for the overwhelming response to our efforts. We invite our NELPCO members to visit our website at www.voltbroadband.com to see how you can sign up for this state-of-the-art service unique to our cooperative membership.
